RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
Since the establishment, the department and the institute have witness and actively participated in the global as well as regional progress of atmospheric sciences. Every year each faculty member has received at least one research grant from various government agencies to conduct fundamental or applied researches in atmospheric and environmental sciences. Furthermore during the last fifteen years many faculty members have heavily involved in several international and local field experiments and research projects to acquire better understanding in local severe weather phenomena, monsoon and short-term climate variability. A list of these experiments and projects is shown in the following.
l Taiwan Area Mesoscale Experiment (TAMEX)
l Tropical Ocean ¡V Global Atmosphere / Coupled Ocean - Atmosphere Response Experiment (TOGA COARE)
l Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM)
l South China Sea Monsoon Experiment (SCSMEX)
